The Ridge Project is partnering with the Town of Shorter, AL to present the 2024 Old Federal Road Storytelling Festival, a one-day indoor program on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time at the Shorter Legacy Center located at 16445 U.S. Highway 80 West Shorter, Alabama. The festival will bring together college-age to adult attendees and humanities scholars to hear informative presentations in a symposium format that align with the theme "Celebrating Harmony of History, Culture, and the Natural World." Topics include natural resources of the region that attracted Alabama Fever migrants and the consequences of migration, General Lafayette's 1825 visit and the upcoming Lafayette Bicentennial, what historic headstones can reveal about people and communities, family history research tips for beginner to intermediate researchers, and a special DNA reveal! There will be plenty of engaging discussions, Q&A, and special vendors who will offer unique items for sale. Light morning refreshments and lunch will be served.
