Born in Mexico City and based in New York, Pablo Helguera is celebrated as one of the leading artists of the socially engaged arts movement of the early 2000s. His multidisciplinary work is situated at the intersection of visual art, theater, literature, and pedagogical strategies; it explores issues related to storytelling, memory, loss, cultural identity, and language.

Recipient of multiple awards (including the Guggenheim Fellowship and Creative Capital award) and author of acclaimed books ("Education for Socially Engaged Art," 2011, among others), Helguera worked as head of public programs at numerous museums, including MoMA, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the MCA Chicago, and is currently assistant professor of arts management and entrepreneurship at the New School in New York.
