The opening work of this varied program is Milhaud's farcical score for small ensemble, performed here in an arrangement by the composer for violin and piano. This will be followed by the fiery and rarely heard "Danza's de Panama" for string quartet, composed by the great American composer, William Grant Still. The program closes with one of the most iconic Romantic works for piano and strings by Robert Schumann.
