Sunday, Dec 7, 2025 from 11:00am to 4:00pm
Deutsches Haus is holding its 7th annual Christkindlmarkt or Christmas Market in December 2025. A Christkindlmarkt is a street market associated with Christmas during the Advent season. These outdoor markets originated in Germany in the late Middle Ages. Our market will offer food, drink, seasonal items and handmade gifts and crafts offered for sale from open air stalls. Shopping will be accompanied by traditional Christmas music and singing and evening shopping under lights.
The Market
No entrance fee for shoppers. Parking on grounds for customers is $5 while space is available. If that is full, look for parking in the neighborhood and park nearby. Parking is not allowed by the city on the grass shores of the bayou.
Food
Sausages, pretzels, gluhwein (warm mulled wine) plus hot chocolate and other treats will be available.
Shopping
There will be over 60 different vendors – with wares either locally made or imported from Germany. Many items suitable for gifts including jewelry, soaps, scarves, and locally-made foods ranging from spiced pecans to stollen from an old family recipe.
Entertainment
Visits by St. Nicholas and the Christkind for children. Photos may be taken with either. There will be Handbell and seasonal music. Returning this year will be Kurrende Brass, a traditional open invitation to brass musicians young and old to bring their instrument and join the Haus Band to play Christmas carols.
