The Hope, Health and Healing Trail Run and Fun Run will take place at Haig Mill Trail on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 9 a.m. Haig Mill park and trail are a great venue for being outdoors in a beautiful setting while improving health for yourself and others! This event is intended to be a source of healing for the community and to promote healing among the patients who receive free healthcare at the DEO Clinic.

You can purchase a sign or a flamingo to honor your healthcare heros. Signs and flamingos will be displayed at the event and proceeds will provide healthcare to someone from our community.

This event will benefit the DEO Clinic, a free medical clinic inside of the Mack Gaston Community Center. The DEO Clinic was established in 2005, and serves adults from Whitfield and Murray Counties who have lower incomes and no insurance. With a small staff and about 80 volunteers, DEO is open 37 hours Monday - Thursday every week to provide compassionate care for basic health concerns.

Event Schedule:

9:00 AM: Trail Run begins - Awards will be given for 1st Place Overall Male and Female, plus placements in each age category. The race follows the trail around Haig Mill lake and is run in the counterclockwise direction. It is one lap, 3.3 miles long, and mostly flat with less than 250 of elevation gain. The trail is a mix of smooth dirt path, gravel, and some sections with rocks and roots. It is a beautiful course and works well for all paces and abilities.

9:15 AM: Fun Run begins
