The wildly popular 'Ice in the Village' event will be taking place once again
Starting at 12 noon on Saturday, Olde Mistick Village will transform into a winter wonderland with glistening ice sculptures on display throughout.
"Families are looking for opportunities to get out and enjoy themselves," said Chris Regan, property manager of Olde Mistick Village. "We are always looking to create a special experience for children, families and couples of all ages to enjoy."
This years ‘Ice in the Village'theme will be in support of 'President's Day' weekend.
Throughout Olde Mistick Village, take your best photos that reflect this Presidential and Patriotic theme, and share them using the hashtag #IceInTheVillage. There will also be an educational and interactive Scavenger Hunt to correctly identify 24 of our most widely recognized presidents. Find their image within our shops and restaurants, complete the map, and enter to win a grand prize. Winners of the contests will be announced on Tuesday, with prizes for 1 random drawing from correctly completed Scavenger Hunt maps, and for Best Photo reflecting the true spirit of President's weekend.
A live Ice Carving demonstration begins Saturday at 12 noon in the gazebo. Over an hour and a half, a large plain block of ordinary ice will be transformed into a beautiful American Eagle. The Founding Fathers made an appropriate choice when they selected the American Bald Eagle as the emblem of our nation. The fierce beauty and proud independence of this great bird aptly symbolizes the strength and freedom of America.
