Headland: A musical exploration of the dreamlike space between land and sea

“There’s a certain spontaneity at work as the three musicians alternately contest and duel, combine and coalesce to bring their talents together.” - Folkwords (UK)

Kerrytown Concert House is delighted to welcome back to its stage the Celtic Roots trio, Kalos in a performance celebrating their most recent album, Headland. The concert will take listeners through a range of moods — from poignant yearning to exuberant celebration. Headland, which refers to a point where land meets sea, is a fitting analogy for the exploratory space Kalos inhabits — one that calls forth driving, heartfelt music journeying through unknown territory to seek and find its essence – the enduring, resilient experience of the human heart. Kalos’ music, while forged in tradition, is nonetheless cast and tempered in new and unexpected ways. Experience how traditional acoustic music can be a balm, a respite in the midst of our radio-static modern life. Come revel in the driving danceability of reels and be inspired by the pastoral melodies and naturalistic metaphors of ballads and airs. If you didn’t catch them at the House the first time, you will not want to miss this chance to hear this fantastic ensemble!

Ryan McKasson (fiddle, viola, background vocals)
Eric McDonald (guitar, mandolin, lead vocals)
Jeremiah McLane (accordion, piano, background vocals)
