The theme for the parade is “Stars, Stripes, and Bonfire Nights.”
We are hoping this theme will allow participants to highlight the beauty of the Tawases natural landscapes alongside the patriotic spirit of Independence Day.
This theme captures the spirit of a weekend getaway in a campground, where nature and recreation collide. Floats might showcase camping, bonfires, fishing trips, boating, hiking trails, and outdoor games. Participants could dress as scouts, campers, or even outdoor adventurers.Participants should evoke the sense of adventure that comes with camping in the wild.
The theme celebrates freedom not only in the context of the nation’s history but also in the freedom of nature, with campers enjoying the liberty to explore wild and beautiful landscapes the Tawas Area has to offer.
Recognition will be given for the float that best displays the theme.
The parade begins at the corner of Newman and Lincoln St, travels towards US-23 where it takes a right, and continues into Tawas City, ending at Matthews St.
The parade stretches 2.5 miles through the Tawases and includes over 100 vehicles.
