Dreading the rush of the upcoming holiday season? Then you’re invited to attend a quiet hour of peace-filled, meditative prayer to welcome Thanksgiving at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the Lighthouse room of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

Taizé is sung meditative prayer interwoven with readings from Scripture and vocal and silent prayer. This simple, beloved service had its beginnings in war-torn Taizé, France, when a group of young Christians from Eastern Europe settled there in August 1940.

Since then, Taizé prayer has spread throughout the world. Through its simplicity, it welcomes the mystery of God and allows that mystery to become tangible. The total effect is calming, quieting, relaxing and soothing.

For more information about St. Thomas’ Taizé service, contact Scott Knisley, director of liturgy and music, at [email protected] or (630) 355-8980, ext. 111.
