The Real Dirt on Farmer John
Hosted by series curator suzanne j zoubeck
A great American epic playing out in the tiny town of Caledonia, Illinois, The Real Dirt on Farmer John tells the story of John Peterson and his struggle to redefine his family farm. With the death of his father during the late 60's, John abandoned conventional chemical farming in a move towards organic farming. But soon vicious local rumors turn John into a scapegoat, condemning him as a Satan-worshipping drug-dealer. Threatened with murder, his home burned to the ground, John defies all odds to transform his land into a revolutionary farming community.
