The Wizard of OZ was very scary for me as a young kid, the tornado, the flying monkeys, the wicked witch. The Story of the Wizard of Oz also has many of lessons. One of them is as bad as things may get there is no place like home. I remember seeing the Wizard of OZ on TV; the colors, the action, the sing and the dancing captivated me. I wanted to be everyone of the characters, I think I was the Tin man for one Halloween. Embarking on this Ballet when I first did it over ten years ago the challenges are a lot like Dorthy’s.  FInd the correct path to get home. I needed to find my yellow brick road which in this case was the music. Finding music that would reflect each scene and character that we all know and love giving the flavor of MGM’s Classic movie and novel by L. Frank Baum. Once you think you found the perfect piece the journey puts obstacles in the way. Just like the characters that help Dorthy find her way home. Bruno Coulais, Hans Zimmer, Francis Pouzenc, and Franseco Lettera’s music has help me direct Dorthy and the he friends down the yellow brick road. Thank you to the dancers for inspiring me on the adventure.
