From: City Of AuroraInternational Sensation Los Tucanes de Tijuana Set to Headline
Aurora, IL - The City of Aurora’s Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board, in conjunction with the City of Aurora and RiverEdge Park, are excited to announce that the 11th annual Fiestas Patrias Festival will take place on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 at RiverEdge Park in Aurora.
The event, which raised over $117,000 in scholarship funds for Hispanic, college bound Aurora students in 2022, is returning in a grand fashion, attracting Latin Grammy Award-winning band Los Tucanes de Tijuana to headline Saturday’s festivities.
Los Tucanes, known for hit songs “La Chona,” “Amor Platónico,” and “El Amor Soñado,” have sold 25 million albums worldwide, obtaining 34 gold and 30 platinum records. Bands Nuevo Terreno, Revolución de Amor, and La Sombra are also scheduled to perform, and will open for Los Tucanes.
Sunday’s headliners include Mi Banda El Mexicano and Banda Maguey, two pioneers of the technobanda sound. Both groups have spent significant time on the Latin Billboard charts, garnering international renown throughout their 30-plus years in music. Empresario De Durango is set to open for both groups.
The fest will also feature some of the area’s finest food vendors, the traditional Parade of Nations, and a ceremony to honor scholarship recipients from the past year.
Tickets for the event are on sale now. On Saturday, tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 11 years old and under. On Sunday, tickets are $15.00 for adults and $5 for children 11 years old and under. Children 2 and under are free.
Attendees are highly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.paramountaurora.com/events/fiestas-patrias/, while supplies last.
Due to popular demand, there is no guarantee that tickets will be available for purchase at the event.
Similar to years past, proceeds from the fest will go towards funding scholarships that assist college-bound students of Hispanic descent who reside in Aurora. Scholarships are administered through the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
