Birth from the earth
This inspiring documentary features nubia earth martin, the founder of birth from the earth, a yonkers based non-profit, dedicated to making home birth safe, sacred, and accessible to those who need it the most. As a midwife and educator, nubia has made it her mission to address maternal health disparities that negatively impact bipoc women, mothers, babies, and their families. We hear so many negative stories and continuous news coverage of how black mothers are dying, and that birth is dangerous and scary. The film shows a different side; through intimate photos and videos of home births, we see the magical side of childbirth often missing in the public discourse.

Coulda beens & wannabes
Thirty years ago riphouse was on their way to the top outdrawing headliners with innovative songwriting and gaining record label interest. They had everything going for them, except themselves.
Coulda beens & wannabes tells the tragic story of riphouse, a metal band from congers, ny that were on their way to becoming the next metallica. It provides a first hand look at what it took to endure the musical landscape of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and cross that thin line between rock stardom and musical obscurity. The film parallels their story with professional insights from genre legends including bobby "Blitz" ellsworth (over kill), steve "Zetro" souza (exodus), rob dukes (ex-exodus & generation kill), don jamieson (co-host that metal show), as well as members of gwar and mobile deathcamp.
8:00 pm party: saturday saints live - yonkers brewing company
Saturday saints (formerly latterday saints) are a rock band from yonkers, new york. Combining alternative rock sensibilities with big stadium rock anthems, they quickly gained a loyal cult following after their formation in the mid-nineties. They were once voted one of the top 5 unsigned bands in nyc and inspired the story behind the indie film no alternative. They recently released their debut album “anhedonia” on rhyme & reason records, which has been called “pure musical adrenaline” and “never short on memorable riffs, hooks and grooves," in the music press.
