Government and Politics

April 25, 2025

From: Delaware Governor Matt Meyer

WILMINGTON - This week, the Delaware Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Commission (POSDC) announced that it is now accepting applications for Round 3 of grant funding. Approximately $13 million is available to support projects addressing the opioid crisis in Delaware. A crucial part of this effort is empowering organizations across the state to implement vital programs and services that support those affected by addiction and work to prevent future harm.

“This grant funding offers a critical opportunity to provide real help to individuals, families, and communities struggling with the devastating effects of opioid addiction,” said Joanna Champney, Co-Chair of the POSDC. “We are committed to supporting programs that promote healing through evidence-based solutions and measurable outcomes.”

This work is close to my heart,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings, Co-Chair of the POSDC. “We at the Department of Justice have been fighting tooth and nail, often punching above our weight, to hold Big Pharma accountable for the devastation they have caused in Delaware. And we have had some big wins, bringing back millions of precious dollars to fund treatment and abatement of the opioid crisis in our state. We are seeing some real progress with a staggering reduction in the epidemic’s death toll over the last year thanks to the many fantastic people and organizations, the Commission included, dedicated to this vital work. Yet, there is still so much to be done. Now is the time to dig in and double down, and I trust that this round of grant funding will give us that edge to keep pushing forward.”

“Far too many Delaware families have suffered the heartbreak of opioid addiction, and too many are still waiting for the healing and support they deserve,” said Governor Matt Meyer. “This latest round of opioid settlement funding is about controlling this epidemic in a transparent and accountable manner and delivering real help to the people who need it most. I encourage Delawareans to bring forward bold, compassionate ideas that can save lives and restore hope.”

The POSDC is offering funding across three grant types to support a wide range of organizations:

  • Micro-Grants: These are for smaller, quick-turnaround projects, with grants up to $10,000. They are designed to help groups, especially smaller ones, jump on urgent needs in the community.
  • Mini-Grants: These are for projects that are a bit more structured and aim for specific results, with funding between $10,000 and $30,000. They can also be a good fit for larger organizations that need extra funding for specific activities.
  • General Grants: These are the biggest grants, for $30,000 or more, geared towards well-established organizations with a solid track record. They support bigger, longer-term programs (up to 2 years).
