The Hoes Down Harvest Festival is dedicated to honoring and promoting the knowledge of agricultural arts and sustainable rural living through inspiration and education. For over 30 years, the Hoes Down has generated valuable resources for local and statewide organizations working on projects which benefit sustainable agriculture and rural communities.

Activities

Music

Music has always been an important part of Hoes Down. From twangy fiddlers and brassy big bands to crooning songwriters and the sounds of flamenco, we have a little something for everyone. 

Farm On-n-On Stage

Boot Juice
Boot Juice has its heart in Americana songwriting, with a rock’n’roll delivery that gets crowds moving. Inspired by the likes of The Band and Railroad Earth with an intensely energetic show reminiscent of Talking Heads, Boot Juice has been gaining buzz with their vibrant performances and party-sparking reputation.

Ginger Molasses
Ginger Molasses captivates audiences with an intoxicating and energetic blend of nostalgia and innovation. Channeling the golden era of the 1960s and 70s, the band delivers an experience that transcends generations.

Sang Matiz
Bay Area-based and female-led powerhouse band, Sang Matiz, has garnered a reputation for enlivening audiences with their insatiable world and afro-latin beats which fuse tropical elements with touches of funk. Sang Matiz takes you on a journey of cultural expression with an exciting blend of rhythms driven by passion, energy, and wild creativity!

Hattie Craven
Hattie Craven has built a fine reputation as a breathtaking performer going back to her early years. It began as a 4 year old fiddler on stage with Laura Love at the Kate Wolf Music Festival. Today, Hattie continues to actively push the envelope in Soul/Folk/Americana music.

Welcome West
Welcome West is a modern bluegrass band based out of Northern California’s central valley.  They played under the name Mandolin Manny with a carousel of members for a few years until a consistent lineup emerged. Now as Welcome West, they feature virtuosic instrumentalists, tight vocal harmonies, and an engaging and interactive stage show. 

JB Barton & Company
A dynamic Americana/country band known for a unique blend of storytelling and vibrant performances. Drawing inspiration from icons like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Bob Dylan, while engaging audiences with a “always friendly outlaws” persona.

LocaLore Stage

Matt Hutchinson
Matt’s influences include the Allman Brothers, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Al DiMeola, Pat Metheny, and Van Halen. He began songwriting at age 14. Matt’s songwriting addresses issues such as redemption, forgiveness, resiliency, and love.

Rowan McGuire
Rowan McGuire is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter whose music deals predominantly with his experiences living in Northern California. Throughout his music, McGuire paves his own road— a road full of grit and innovation.

Workshops

There’s a workshop for everyone at Hoes Down. Come tour the farm, look for bugs, get wild, learn a new skill or practice an old one. Ask an expert and get your hands dirty!

Children’s Area

Arts and crafts, storytelling sessions, music, farm animals, games and contests… there’s fun all day long in the Children’s Area!

Silent Auction

Our Silent Auction is a standout to find gifts and experiences from local farms, crafters and restaurants. If you’re lucky you’ll go home with artisanal cheese, a gardening book or a farm-to-table experience.
