40th Annual GermanFest Picnic

Arts and Entertainment

July 20, 2023

From: Germanfest Picnic

Get YOUR Gemütlichkeit on!

There are a few festivals that celebrate German traditions around the city, but this fest dives deeper, to give a glimpse of the German heritage that has given Dayton some of its cultural identity – all while enjoying an import beer and a schnitzel.

Germanfest Picnic is back this summer with all the Gemuetlichkeit and many of the activities our visitors have come to know and love: lots of that delicious homemade German food, plenty of fantastic German and domestic bier and wein, your favorite bands playing in the biergarten, the Polka Mass, Culture Display, Kinder Korner and food and craft vendors.

Celebrate German Traditions
Founded in 1983, Dayton’s Germanfest Picnic is a 3-day celebration of the Miami Valley’s rich German heritage

The heart of the festivities is the Dayton Liederkranz Turner Clubhouse at 1400 E. Fifth Street in historic St. Anne’s Hill, one of Dayton’s original German neighborhoods. The footprint of the festival stretches along East Fifth Street from Keowee to Dutoit Streets.

German Fare
Authentic German Food, including our famous schnitzel dinners

Enjoy all your favorites – schnitzel dinners, brats, metts, our awesome German potato salad, sauerkraut, as well as German desserts including bienenstich and strudel. Huge selection of authentic German brews and domestic beers and spirits. Enjoy the live entertainment under the big tent.

Great Music
Great Food.  Great People.  And Great Music!

Germanfest wouldn’t be the same without live entertainment!  Enjoy your favorite bands all weekend on our main stage under the big tent. Expect lively crowds, and lots of dancing!

Come join us for a celebration rich in German food, music, culture, and family fun!
