Puzzle Contest

Celebrate National Puzzle Day in the most exciting way – by taking on the ultimate puzzle challenge! Gather a team of up to four friends and join us for our annual Puzzle Contest. Each team will have approximately two hours to complete a 500-piece puzzle as quickly as possible. Registration is limited to 50 teams, with a $10 entry fee per team to cover the cost of the puzzles – which you get to keep! Prizes await the top three teams, so don’t miss out on the fun!

Cabin Fever Kids Concert

Come join us for the very first Cabin Fever Kids Concert! Treat the kids to an hour of live music with Ken Lonquist, and enjoy a fun-filled evening out of the house – the perfect cure for the winter blues! This concert kicks off our three-part Cabin Fever Kids Concert Series.

8am : Make & Take Craft - Westside Community Service Building

Start your winter weekend with a fun family craft! Pick up a FREE Make-and-Take craft kit at the Westside Community Service Building vestibule, and enjoy creating together over the weekend. Once you’re done, share your masterpiece on social media and tag Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry! Craft kits are available while supplies last-first come, first served!

4:00-8:00 PM : Winter Beer Garden - Wetmore Park

Warm up with some brews and dive into winter fun! Enjoy a cozy campfire, hot cocoa, s’mores, ice skating, and games – the perfect recipe for a fantastic winter evening! The Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department will be selling brews, beverages and snacks at the Wetmore Park shelter. Enjoy FREE skate rentals from Sun City Cyclery! Friday night only.

12:00 - 2:00pm : Cardboard Sled Classic - Carriage Hills Estates Park

Get ready to slide into fun at the Cardboard Sled Classic! Gather your supplies, get creative, and build your very own cardboard sled masterpiece. Then, race it down the hill to see if your creation is built for speed! From wild designs to fast runs, it’s a day full of laughter, friendly competition, and a whole lot of cardboard. Are you ready to take the hill? Let the sledding begin!

12:00 - 4:00 PM : Groundhog Open - Downtown Sun Prairie

Celebrate Groundhog Day with a twist at the Groundhog Open Putt Putt Bar Crawl! Round up a team of four and tour Sun Prairie's best bars with a fun putt-putt challenge at each stop. In partnership with Wisconsin Distributors, this one-of-a-kind event supports the Sun Prairie Lion's Club. For just $40 per team, enjoy drinks, laughs, and friendly competition.

10am - 3pm : Ice Carvings - Cannery Square

Stop by Cannery Square to check out icy art creations! Ice Carvings will be on display as long as weather conditions allow.

Visit Jimmy the Groundhog the night before the 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication and learn more about the history of Groundhog Day in Sun Prairie! FREE to attend! Donations to the Sun Prairie Historical Museum appreciated.

5:30 - 7:30 PM : Candlelit Hike & Bonfire - Patrick Marsh Wildlife Area & Patrick Marsh Middle School

Embrace the magic of winter with a Candlelit Hike and Bonfire at Patrick Marsh! Meet at Patrick Marsh Middle School at 5:30 pm for a brief program. Then stroll along the scenic trail illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight, winding through snowy woods under the stars. Cozy up by the bonfire to warm up and enjoy the peaceful winter night. It’s the perfect evening to connect with nature, friends, and family. Don’t forget to bundle up and bring your sense of wonder!

7:11 AM : 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication - Cannery Square

Join us for Sun Prairie’s 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication! Will Jimmy the Groundhog see his shadow? Come find out and be part of the excitement! The ceremony begins at 7:00 AM, led by local officials, with the big moment at sunrise, 7:11 AM, when we’ll learn if we’re in for six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Don’t forget to grab some unique Groundhog Day apparel available on-site! After the prediction, keep the fun going by participating in or cheering on participants in the 5th Annual Hibernation Hustle 5k and Kids Dash, featuring none other than Jimmy the Groundhog! It’s a morning of tradition, community, and fun-don’t miss it!

7:30-9:30 AM : Hibernation Hustle - Cannery Square

Shake off the winter snooze and join us for the Hibernation Hustle 5k and Kids Dash with Jimmy the Groundhog! This isn’t just a race; it’s a chance to make your own Groundhog Day prediction! When you register for the race, choose your race shirt wisely: a blue shirt says you’re bracing for six more weeks of winter, while a gold shirt means you’re calling for an early spring. The race will begin after the 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication where Jimmy the Groundhog will join elected officials on-stage in Cannery Square to give his official forecast, we’ll see who guessed right on race day! So lace up, layer up, and join us for Groundhog Day! Whether you’re racing for a PR or just here for the hot cocoa, it’s a 5K you won’t want to sleep through!

7:30 - 11:00 am : Pancake TOSS Breakfast with Jimmy the Groundhog - Angell Park Pavilion

After Jimmy makes his legendary prediction at the 77th Annual Groundhog Prognostication, keep the excitement going by joining us for a hearty breakfast at the Pancake Toss Breakfast! This special event, hosted by the Sun Prairie Exchange Club, is your chance to meet Wisconsin’s favorite groundhog up close while supporting a great cause. Will it be six more weeks of winter or an early spring? Come find out, then celebrate with Jimmy as you enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, hot off the griddle! It’s the perfect way to keep warm and fuel up on a chilly February morning.

12:00-3:00 PM : Sled Dog Demo - Wetmore Park

Get ready for a howlin’ good time with Free Spirit Siberian Rescue as they bring the excitement of sled dogs to life! Join us for a free demonstration where you’ll see these incredible Siberian Huskies in action, showcasing their strength, speed, and teamwork as they zip across the snow. Come meet the pack, learn all about sled dog training, and even get up close with some of the rescue’s lovable huskies! It’s a unique chance to experience the thrill of dog sledding and hear about how Free Spirit Siberian Rescue is helping these adventurous pups find their forever homes. Perfect for families and dog lovers of all ages—don’t miss the chance to witness the joy and energy of these magnificent dogs!
