A Central Ohio based fundraising event and celebration of family, food and everything Big Green Egg! It is a grilling, smoking, barbecue and cooking competition that features the Big Green Egg grill. It is essentially one big food festival!

It’s bragging rights for the cook team that takes home the Popular Vote Award; it’s legendary status for the cook team that takes home the Very Prestigious Award, Award; it’s a day full of family, friends, and food that would make celebrity chefs reconsider their collective lives’ work!

Returning for the second year, Second Shot! Second Shot is another local band that will be bringing us some of the best classic rock tunes from the greatest years in rock. These guys always bring it!

Cooking Demos: Cooking Demos from The BBQ Buddha!
Big Green Egg's Pitmaster "BBQ Buddha" will be joining us to teach us how to elevate our BBQ game! Chris Sussman has mastered the art of grilling and he's ready to share his wealth of knowledge with us so we can become the star of our next backyard BBQ.

Also joining us from Team BGE will be Ron Dimpflmaier aka, Captain Ron! Proud member of Team BGE & FOGO Charcoal, he will be serving up some deliciousness while hosting a cooking demo and joining us at the Pitmaster roundtable.

Hosting - Craig "Cmac" McPherson
Craig "Cmac" McPherson, a towering culinary expert and proud member of Team BGE, Fogo Charcoal & Arteflame. With his impressive stature and grilling skills, Cmac is set to be the 2023 host of The Ohio Eggfest, where he'll also be showing off his skills on the Big Green Egg.

The Ohio Eggfest – Cooking Competition:

Thank you for your interest in cooking in the 2023 “The” Ohio Eggfest! The Ohio eggfest is a celebration and cooking competition where everything is cooked on The Big Green Egg. The 2023 Ohio Eggfest will be located at Fortress Obetz in Obetz, Ohio on July 29th, 2023. Registration is open to everyone, with or without culinary experience and the entry fee is FREE. Teams are limited to 4 people.

The Big Green Egg’s will be provided along with Big Green Egg charcoal and a convEGGtor (platesetter). Teams will have about a 10×10 space, and a table will be provided. Teams are able to put any promotional material up if they would like.

There are no rules to what you can cook (get creative!). Whatever you decide to cook will need to be finished on The Big Green Egg. Teams will be responsible for .5 to 1 oz samples for attendees.

Charitable Donation:

On the day of the event, if you provide us with dated receipts for all of the food and supplies you bought for the event, we will hand you a signed form with the total of the receipts, stating you made a charitable contribution, which will be tax deductible under Internal Revenue Code regulations.

Awards

Cooks will be competing to win the “People’s Choice” award, as well as a professionally (but silently) judged award we have dubbed The Prestigious Award, Award – sought by many, acquired by only the finest of the few. The silently judged award winner will win a $1,000 Gift Card to Specialty Gas House. The People’s Choice award winner will win a Large Big Green Egg package. There will also be a mystery meat challenge if you would like to compete in it, we will provide the meat for that challenge on the day of the event.

Each ticket includes admission to The Ohio Eggfest, all entertainment including live music, cooking demos & more, food from each of the participating teams, water (alcohol and soda will be available for purchase), and a voting token to vote for the best cook! 100% of the proceeds benefit cancer prevention, treatment & research through The James Cancer Hospital and the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer.
