Abigail Horvat, a Chicago-based associate in Cozen O'Connor's Global Insurance Department, has been appointed to two committee leadership positions within the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) for the 2025–2026 year.  

Horvat will serve as the vice-chair of the Self-Insurers and Risk Managers General Committee and social media vice-chair of the Excess Surplus Lines and Reinsurance General Committee.

She was appointed based on her outstanding leadership abilities, commitment to the legal profession, and contributions to the ABA TIPS Section. During her one-year term, she will have the opportunity to collaborate with legal professionals from across the country, engage in nationally recognized CLE programs, publish in ABA publications, and participate in planning activities that support professional development, ethics, workplace culture, and public service.

Horvat represents international and domestic insurers in complex insurance coverage matters, arbitration and litigation involving directors & officers liability, employment practices liability, professional liability and commercial general liability claims.

She  handles coverage litigation in state and federal courts across the country and assists commercial carriers in responding to first-party and third-party cyber insurance claims involving ransomware, fraudulent transfers, and social engineering, as well as overseeing vendor retention for appropriate breach notification and response efforts. Horvat regularly presents on the impact of artificial intelligence and other technological resources on professional industries.

Horvat  earned her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University (2017) and her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law (2020).
