National Fire Prevention Week - Oct. 9-15

The Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department (QCFMD) is joining forces with the National Fire Protection Association to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape”.

This year’s campaign, Oct. 9-15, works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. Visit fpw.org to learn more.

Halloween Safety Tips

COSTUMES:

Choose costumes that are bright or add reflective tape for greater visibility. Make sure masks are secure and that costumes do not obstruct vision. Costumes, wigs and accessories should be flame resistant. Avoid long or baggy costumes and wear shoes that fit, to prevent tripping.

DRIVE SAFELY:

Eliminate any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road.
Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs.
Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your lights on earlier to spot children from greater distances.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT:

A responsible adult should always accompany young children.
Carry a flashlight to be seen.
Go only to well-lit houses and remain on porches.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Never enter a home or car for treats.
Cross streets at corners, and never between two vehicles.
Watch for cars driving into or backing out of driveways.
Do not eat treats until they are checked by an adult at home.
Confine household pets for the evening and check that they are wearing collars and identification tags.
