Goats and Horses and Birds, oh my!
Visit Pioneer Farm to meet the museum’s cattle, sheep, and fowl. Explore an extensive range of bird life in the Waterfowl Tent and Exhibition Barn during the Rochester Poultry Association’s 115th Annual Show. Watch professional sheep herding dogs from Ox Creek Farm round up the herd. Befriend horses from local riders and the WNY Sidesaddle Association as they parade around the Great Meadow and Historic Village. Talk with local 4-H youth exhibiting rabbits, goats, cattle, and poultry, or check out the falconry demo.
Blue Ribbon Competition
Explore exhibitions in more than 150 categories of judged baked goods, preserves, hand-made needlecrafts, photography, 19th-century industrial arts, special youth categories, and much more. Eye-catching heirloom vegetables and floral entries – including those for the largest pumpkin – will be included in GCV&M’s horticultural display.
The competition is open to museum members and the public alike. Entrants receive one-day free admission to the festival!
It’s never too early to start planning (and planting!) for the Blue Ribbon Competition! Click the button below to explore the premium book with categories of entry for our 2023 competition, and start thinking now about what agricultural wonders you’ll submit
