The All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) is the premier destination for talented high school filmmakers and media arts enthusiasts from around the world. Our Mission is to provide immersive education with a profound impact, connecting the filmmakers of the future with the rewards, respect, and recognition they deserve.

Each year, in the heart of New York City, we present the world's largest high school film festival. We offer a grand stage for the next generation of talented filmmakers where they can: screen their amazing creations, learn from top industry professionals, connect with the latest technology, explore myriad higher education opportunities, receive scholarships and technology prizes, and perhaps most importantly, create a community of shared passions and lifelong relationships.

2023 NYC Film Invitational

The AAHSFF Film Invitational is the world’s premier, on-site student filmmaking competition - An authentic, real-world production experience for student filmmakers and video production programs - your chance to “crew up” and produce a short film in just 10 weeks. We believe that the best classroom is a film set, and our Film Invitational Competitions provide participants with an unparalleled chance to productively collaborate, improve their craft and test their skills while competing against student teams from around the world.

At the heart of all of our competition options is the pre-production process, enabling teams to fully embrace the most essential phase of production, and helping you create your best possible submission once on-set in New York City. Simply put: Competing in the Film Invitational is a team-building, tech-fueled, creative experience like no other!

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM: High Line Photo Walk - The High Line

Welcome to the 2023 Photo Walk Challenge taking place on The High Line! This is the official kick-off event of our festival weekend: Your chance to explore a unique and magical New York City landmark while testing your creative photography talents. And, just like the High Line, our 2023 “challenge” is FREE! Even better, for everyone joining us on the Opening Night Dinner Cruise, you can hop off the High Line at 23rd street (wheelchair accessible via elevator) to board the boat at Chelsea Pier 61.

The Challenge: Explore the wonderful diversity of the Highline’s architecture, art, and natural landscapes while capturing the experience with your camera.

6:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Opening Night Hudson River Dinner Cruise - Pier 61 Chelsea Piers
Presented by Hofstra University

Kick off the festival weekend right with our Opening Night Party and Networking Event sailing around Manhattan on the Hudson River! This event is for Elite All-Access Pass holders or those who purchased tickets specifically for the dinner cruise. If you have a general All-Access pass, you may purchase admission to the dinner cruise while supplies last.

October 21, 2023:

9:30 AM - 5:30 PM: Saturday Official Selections Screenings - AMC Empire 25

Witness the future of film in the heart of New York City! We will be screening all of our 2023 Official Selections at the AMC Empire 25 Theater in Times Square.

Screenings will take from from 9:30am to 12:15pm and from 2:00pm to 5:30pm on Saturday. From 12pm-2pm we will host the College Fair (And Free Lunch). Once screenings resume the College Fair will continue until 4pm.

Join us at the nation's largest film and media arts college fair! Take some time to check out each school and their unique approach to film and media education. During our Best of Fest Screenings we will screen some of the very best films that the 2023 All American High School Film Festival has to offer. Not all films in this screening will win awards, but a little birdie told me that some might... BOF is divided into three different 2 hour screenings all first, come - first, served. But don't worry, they are all outstanding!

5:00 PM - 5:45 PM: Bus Transportation to Kings Theatre - Sheraton Hotel Times Square

Attendees with bus passes will begin boarding our reserved coach buses for round trip transportation to and from the 2023 Tindies at Kings Theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

There will be the option to purchase tickets for a seat on a chartered bus that will take you from The Sheraton Hotel in Times Square to The Kings Theatre for the Teen Indie Awards.
