This week, our Box of Rain kids dove into October’s theme of Watershed Exploration with an unforgettable field trip to Calvert Cliffs! Along the way, they spotted horses across farmland, explored wetlands and wildlife on a nature hike, waded in the water, and hunted for fossils, shells, and shark teeth on the beach. A day full of adventure, learning, and hands-on discovery!

‘Fall into autumn’ was the theme at last week's Schools Out Camp! From seining to beach adventures and fort building, campers embraced the season, and the shoreline, using nature as their toys. No plastic needed, just sand, water, and imagination!

Chesapeake Scenes II at the Annapolis Maritime Museum

Join the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park (AMM) for Chesapeake Scenes II, a special performance in person or online celebrating the traditions, culture, and heritage of the Chesapeake Bay. A reception will begin at 6:00 PM for those attending in person. Led by Capt. Andy McCown, the program weaves together music, stories, and poetry that honor life on the Bay. 

This one-of-a-kind event features a talented lineup, including James Stankewicz, Zack Kelleher, Deb Campbell, and special guests Meredith Hadaway, Rebecca Hock, Sue Matthews, and Bob & Pam Ortiz. Produced by Echo Hill Outdoor School, the evening promises a heartfelt tribute to the Chesapeake and the people who call it home.

Space for in-person attendance is limited, so please register early to reserve your spot. A Zoom link will be sent in your reservation confirmation email for those joining virtually.

Bring your camera and join us aboard the historic skipjack Wilma Lee for The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race Watch Party! Come see the start of the 130-mile race from Annapolis to Norfolk Virginia. Tickets include drinks and a complimentary boxed lunch from Bread and Butter. Includes a sandwich or wrap, cookie, fruit and house chips. 

(We provide wine, canned beer and non-alcoholic beer, canned cocktails, and soft drinks.)

Wilma Lee Halloween Cruise

Step aboard the historic Skipjack Wilma Lee for a special Halloween sunset cruise on the Chesapeake Bay. Enjoy a crisp autumn evening on the water with friends, festive vibes, and a touch of Halloween magic.

We will serve a selection of spooky halloween goodies along with beer, wine, and canned cocktails.

Costumes are welcome and encouraged. Captain Rick will judge the evening’s best costume, with the winner receiving a mystery prize.
