Beaumont, CA - On Thursday, March 9, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m. an officer observed a driver make an illegal turn at a high rate of speed at Cougar Way and Beaumont Avenue, at which time the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer approached the vehicle and asked the driver for his driver's license. The driver then drove away at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to pursue the driver, however the driver entered into the intersection of Beaumont Avenue and Oak Valley Parkway, and made an illegal turn striking another vehicle.

The driver and victim in the second vehicle both complained of pain. The victim was transported for minor injuries and the driver was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation. The driver was arrested for evading an officer and causing injury.
