When 12-year-old Melissa’s* mother was struggling with addiction, her grandparents became her anchor, standing firm as her world shifted. They offered her the love and stability she needed to feel safe again. 

One of the few constants in her life was ballet, taking classes at a small dance studio on the Lower Cape. It was there that Melissa found joy, connection, and a growing sense of accomplishment. 

But with her grandparents on a fixed income and their finances stretched thin, classes like these quickly became out of reach.

That’s when her grandparents turned to the Arts Foundation for help, making it possible for Melissa to continue dancing and to continue discovering her own strength and grace.
