Join us this October 18-19, 2025 when more than 400 artists, businesses, and venues in Gowanus will open their doors, giving the public a rare glimpse inside the former factories, warehouses, and studio buildings of our vibrant neighborhood. Artists will be present to discuss their work, share their processes, and showcase their latest projects. Plus, it’s a unique opportunity to purchase work directly from local artists. What: The 29th Annual Gowanus Open Studios (GOS 2025)

When: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18 and 19, noon to 6 p.m.

Where: Multiple studios throughout Gowanus, between Park Slope and Carroll Gardens, near Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill, and adjacent to Red Hook. You can get to Gowanus Open Studios by foot, bike, bus, LIRR, car, subway and kayak.
 

Gowanus Open Studios returns, better than ever, for its 29th year! Hosted by Arts Gowanus for the past 29 years, Gowanus Open Studios is Brooklyn’s biggest celebration of local art and artists. We’re so excited to see others joining us in celebrating the unique creative spirit of the neighborhood! On the weekend of October 18 and 19, hundreds of artists across dozens of venues in the greater Gowanus neighborhood will open their doors, giving the public a rare glimpse inside the former factories, warehouses, and studio buildings of this vibrant neighborhood. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work, share their processes, and showcase their latest projects.

Whether you’re already an art lover, art-curious, or just looking for something different to do on a weekend, Gowanus Open Studios provides an exciting and intimate look into this booming creative neighborhood. Home to up-and-coming galleries, cultural centers, art fairs, hundreds of independent artists, and quirky community organizations, Gowanus is one of New York City’s premier arts and culture neighborhoods. 

Gowanus Open Studios will feature venues and studios from Pacific St. to 19th St. and from Smith St. to 5th Ave. 10,000 printed maps will be distributed across the neighborhood to help visitors navigate the various locations. A digital map and directory of artists is available on artsgowanus.org.

This year, we are thrilled to open the first group of subsidized studios we negotiated as part of the Gowanus Rezoning in new developments in Gowanus. These artist studios offer long-term affordability for our art community, the artists allocated these studios are moved in and eager to show visitors what they are working on! These studios at The Shop BK and Society Brooklyn will be open to the public, The Shop BK will also be generously hosting several other exhibitions and artists for the weekend.

In addition to hundreds of individual art studios, visitors can also experience a variety of events happening within Gowanus Open Studios.

2025 highlights include:

  • Free access to hundreds of private studios and venues showcasing local art
  • Artwork banners on Fourth Ave/Ninth St. Station showcasing artwork from the Gowanus art community.
  • Van Alen Institute's Fall Fest Sat, Oct 18, 12–4 pm 303 Bond St, Brooklyn. An afternoon of treats, tunes, all-ages art workshops, and a raffle for exciting prizes from local businesses.
  • Extended hours at TI Art Studios at Gowanus Open Studios After Dark on Saturday night from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • DJ Fonda and surprise performances at the GOS after party at Gowanus Wharf 240 Third Ave on Sunday 6:30 - 9pm
  • Support from local sponsors and businesses throughout the neighborhood

- Witness Marks: Toward the Unseen and Juan Pablo Plazas by Open Source Gallery and at (The Shop BK at 420 Carroll St.)
- Skull Rock at Sweet Lorraine Gallery (183 Lorraine St., inside TI Art Studios)
- (Un)Natural Habitats: Gowanus curated by Why Not Art at Littlefield (635 Sackett Street)
- Untitled by Juliet Martin at Gowanus Wine Studio & Tasting Table (257 3rd Ave.)

Gowanus Open Studios will feature venues and studios from Pacific St. to 19th St. and from Smith St. to Fifth Ave. More than 8,000 printed maps will be distributed across the neighborhood to help visitors navigate the various locations.
