Aspen Film Executive Director's Letter: December 2022

Arts and Entertainment

December 7, 2022

From: Aspen Filmfest

Hello Friends of Film,

The holiday season is off to a great start with great snow and great cinema!  We hope you’re able to experience both and we have an exciting month ahead to share with you.

As a reminder, today is Colorado Gives Day and we hope that you’ll consider making a contribution to Aspen Film to assist us with our mission to enrich, enlighten, educate and entertain through film.

Please give today and your gift will be matched up to $5,000.

Before we get to the main event - our 30th Academy Screenings, which take place at the Wheeler Opera House and Isis Theatre from December 19-23, we have a few other exciting offerings to share with you…

Tomorrow night, December 7 at 7:30 PM, please join us for a one-night only screening of Steven Spielberg’s THE FABELMANS, our featured Indie Showcase.

“Steven Spielberg’s 33rd feature film is a marvel coming-of-age story and one of his most personal. The Fabelmans is a mesmerizing film, shot with typically expert skill…with the script by Tony Kushner providing truly devastating moments of heartfelt emotion.”  Adam Mullins-Khatib, Chicago Reader

“This is Spielberg’s most personal film, and it’s intriguing to watch him pay homage to the directors who made up his group of friends in the early 1970s.”  - Odie Henderson, Boston Globe

On Sunday afternoon, December 11 at 4 PM, join us at the Wheeler Opera House for a FREE holiday screening of THE GRINCH, in partnership with the Wheeler.  Complimentary cookies and hot cocoa will be provided courtesy of Paradise Bakery.

Tickets are going fast, so reserve yours today!

And as a special thank you to Aspen Film Members, we are presenting a free, big screen presentation of Alejandro Iñárritu’s BARDO, which is also Mexico’s 2023 Oscar® submission for Best International Feature Film.

If you haven’t yet renewed your Aspen Film Membership, or would like to become an Aspen Film Member (it really does matter!), please click HERE.

We recently announced our much anticipated Academy Screenings lineup and tickets are on sale this week!  Full details on the festival can be found HERE - it’s going to be an exciting five days of film. So whether you join us for one film or several, don’t miss some of the year’s most compelling cinema, and in-person, post screening Q+As with actor Kate Hudson and director Scott Cooper.

If you’re a member you have access to individual tickets beginning today through aspenshowtix.com or by calling the Wheeler Opera House directly at 970 920 5770. Starting on Friday, December 9, tickets are available to the general public. Full festival passes are currently available here.
