Athens, GA, October 19, 2022 - At 10:22 PM, Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services received an alarm for a structure fire and vehicle fire located at the 100 block of Winter Hill Drive. At the time of our arrival at the scene, the officer in charge reported fire in a single-story residence with fire involved on one corner, along with two vehicles also involved in close proximity. With the arrival of additional units, crews stretched hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire.

After the interior crews achieved extinguishment of the fire, a primary search was performed and one deceased cat was located. No injuries were reported from the residents. Crews worked to confirm there were no hidden fires and it had not extended beyond the area of obvious damage. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

"We are sorry for the loss that this family is dealing with", says Battalion Chief Nate Moss. He continues, "Unfortunate incidents like these should serve as a reminder to make sure that everyone has working smoke alarms in their homes. You never know when a fire may occur at your home".
