When no candidate receives a majority of votes in the General Election, a runoff between the top two vote-getters is required. The General Election Runoff will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Statewide, voters will decide between incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock and his challenger Herschel Walker for U.S. Senate. There are no other races on the ballot in Athens-Clarke County.

Below is information related to the December 6, 2022 General Election Runoff.

Important Upcoming Dates

November 27 - December 2: Advance Voting

November 27: Sunday Advance Voting at the Elections Office

November 28 - December 2: Weekday Advance Voting at the Elections Office, Miriam Moore Community Center, Extension Office, Tennis Center, and Library

November 28: Absentee ballot application deadline. Last day for Elections Office to receive an absentee ballot application by email, fax, in person, or mail. 

December 6: Election Day - Polls open 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Absentee ballot deadline for absentee ballots to be received at the Elections Office by mail or in person.

Absentee Ballots

Applications for absentee ballots are available in the Elections Office or at www.accgov.com/elections.

Absentee ballots can also be applied for online through the My Voter Page atmvp.sos.ga.gov.

Voters must provide a valid form of identification when submitting an absentee ballot application.

The last day to apply for an absentee ballot is Monday, November 28 by email, fax, in person, or mail.

Voted absentee ballots are due to the Elections Office by 7:00 PM on Election Day (December 6) by mail or in person through a secure drop box. The secure drop box is located inside the Elections Office.

Early / Advance Voting

Early / advance voting begins on Sunday, November 27 and ends on Friday, December 2.

There is no early / advance voting on the Monday before Election Day.

Registered Athens-Clarke County voters can vote at any of the early / advance voting locations.

Election Day Voting

Election Day is Tuesday, December 6 for the General Election Runoff.

Polls are open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

Registered Athens-Clarke County voters vote at their registered precinct. A voter’s precinct can be found on their voter registration/precinct card, online atmvp.sos.ga.gov, or by calling the Elections Office.
