From: Avondale KidFestJoin us for a celebration of Day of the Child (Dia de los Ninos) and the Week of the Young Child as Friendship Park turns in to a kid's paradise! This FREE event promises some high-flying fun and learning for the entire family. Have fun with various activities, crafts, food trucks, entertainment, and learn about different types of organizations and services with lots of exhibitors!
KidFest is an event recognized by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and AzAEYC celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families. This event is hosted during the Nationally recognized Week of the Young Child™, a celebratory effort to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
Entertainment:
9am - 10:30am - Superhero 5k
For the 6th Year running, Put on the Cape and PLEA Charities presents the Superhero 5k! The featured hero is Spiderman!
Returning to Friendship Park in Avondale, the event is part of the annual "Kid Fest" and is open to families of all ages.
Participants are encouraged to dress like any character from the "Spider-verse!"
Proceeds from this event support the Southwest Family Advocacy Center serving Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, and MCSO. The center is an oasis for victims of child sexual abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
Join us for this family event that in its first five years, raised more than $25,000 for the center.
10am - Pitch Hit & Run
Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) events provide boys and girls an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills, with the opportunity of earning a chance to attend and compete for a Championship during the 2024 MLB World Series!
Approved local events give youth organizations an opportunity to provide a free and high-quality experience for their participants. Even more, by hosting, they expand their programs, while building a strong relationship with MLB, MiLB, and its partners.
The Pitch, Hit & Run program is a free event series for boys and girls, and consists of a series of movements that are important in baseball and softball. Participants will compete in either 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, or 13-14 age division, with the Age Cut-off set on November 15, 2024. They will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points. Based on their scores, they will advance from a Local Event to a Team Championship and then to the Finals hosted at the World Series.
