Dog Tales Storytime
Monday, June 5 at 10:00 am

Muri and her human Cheryl will be visiting the BFL for a fun and furry storytime! Join us for dog-approved stories and a chance to pet this calm, sweet, and soft therapy dog. If it is 55 degrees or warmer, this program will be held outside on the library lawn, so bring a blanket or chair.  Look for us around back! If it is rainy or less than 55 degrees, the storytime will be moved indoors.

Colorful Storytime
Tuesdays at 10:00 am

It’s fun to learn about the beautiful colors in the world!  Join us for stories, rhymes, and songs highlighting a different color each week. Kiddos (and their grownups!) are encouraged to bring or wear something that goes with the color of the week. If it is 55 degrees or warmer, this program will be held outside on the library lawn, so bring a blanket or chair. If it is rainy or less than 55 degrees, the story time will be moved indoors. This week's color is rainbow.

Fantastical Folktales of Flowers with Diane Edgecomb and Margot Chamberlain
Tuesday, June 6 at 6:00 pm

Retold in a dramatic storytelling by award-winning storyteller and theatre artist Diane Edgecomb, this evocative tapestry of story and song conjures a magical world bringing new meaning to favorite garden flowers. Accompanied by Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain, the one hour performance event is surrounded by a weave of song and music completing the storytelling magic. This program is geared primarily towards adults and children ages 10+. It will be held outdoors, so bring a blanket or chair and a picnic if you like. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be held at the Morse Institute Library. This program is sponsored in part by a grant from the Natick Cultural Council.

Jammin With You
Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 am

Be prepared to laugh, dance, sing, and jam your way through 30 minutes of non-stop family fun! This performance is geared toward kids ages 1–7, but fun for the whole family. If the weather is 55 degrees or warmer, the program will be held outdoors behind the library, so bring a blanket or towel for sitting on the grass. If it’s rainy or under 55 degrees, we’ll meet indoors and space will be available on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own simple instruments if you can! We recommend shakers, rhythm sticks, and scarves, or homemade equivalents like a container of rice, a couple of wooden spoons, and a dish towel. Jammin With You has more instrument suggestions here. Baby Time
Fridays at 10:00 am
Join us for a cozy storytime filled with lap bounces, rhymes, songs, and simple stories. Geared toward infants and young toddlers with their grownups.

Art Exhibit: Shannon Slattery
Currently on display at the library

Visit the library to view Shannon Slattery's stunning artwork, semi abstract landscape paintings inspired by mid-coast Maine, on display at the BFL through June 14. These works are painted in acrylic paint on reclaimed masonite panels. Inspired by the woods and coastline of the mid coast, they exist in the space between drawing and painting, representation and abstraction. Shannon is an artist and a teacher, serves on the Board of the Newton Art Association, and has been teaching Fine Art at Newton North High School for the last 24 years. Big Bubbles with Mr. Vinny the Bubble Guy

Kick off Summer Reading with some running, jumping, and bubble-popping fun! With his giant, homemade bubble wands, Mr. Vinny gets kids and adults involved in bubble chasing games. Silly, interactive entertainment for all ages! How to Steal a Masterpiece

Join us for another great talk with art historian and educator Mallory Mortillaro. Enter the underworld of stolen art as we examine the little known stories of some of history’s greatest art heists. This lecture will review some of the most significant art theft in the last century and a half, while also questioning and discussing how the legitimate art market has managed to pique the interest of so many criminals. Mallory Mortillaro has ten years of teaching experience, and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. Family Trivia - Share Your Patriotism!
Tuesday, June 27 at 5:00 pm

In anticipation of July 4th, join us for a star-spangled trivia event on the BFL lawn! From patriotic songs to famous Americans this trivia game has something for people of all ages, so gather your family and friends and join in the fun. Bring a blanket and some snacks and get comfy on the lawn. (If the weather is rainy, we will move this program inside.) The top two teams will receive prizes!
