From: Beaches Museum and History ParkThe Beaches Museum will be hosting a celebration of trains and their impact on the history of the beaches community this weekend.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, September 8 with Rails & Ales! The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and will feature a screening classic short-films, train-themed trivia, and drinks to accompany the fun. The event will be held at the Museum's Chapel and advanced registration is encouraged.
On Saturday, visitors can take part in a variety of activities including viewing three operating model train layouts, a car show dubbed Cars Through Decades, a train robbers suspect hunt, and a Beaches Museum photo booth. The trackless train is back this year. Guests can hop aboard for rides through the neighborhood.
The Museum’s 1911 steam locomotive, the 1900 Florida East Coast Foreman’s House, and the Mayport Depot will also be open to the public with volunteers present to answer any questions guests may have.
A craft station, informational tables including Operation Lifesaver and concessions by Boy Scout Troop #37 will also be available.
