Biden-Harris Administration Delivering Real Results for Latino Nevadans, Harris-Walz Ticket Looking to Continue Progress

Government and Politics

October 10, 2024

Ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ Univision town hall with Latino voters, here’s a reminder that the Biden-Harris Administration is delivering for hardworking Latino families in Nevada and has made incredible progress on the critical issues that directly impact them. Over 285,000 good-paying jobs have been created amidst powerful economic growth, while lowering prescription drug costs and expanding access to healthcare and educational opportunities. We have also seen strong commitment to building safer communities, passing historic and bipartisan anti-gun violence legislation.

The Harris-Walz ticket will continue on this progress, introducing a one-of-a-kind, authentic plan to lower costs for families and spur job growth. The Harris-Walz administration will build 3 million new homes, providing tax incentives for both homebuilders to expand construction and a $25,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers to afford a house, both of which would be incredibly significant for Latino Nevadans. The Harris-Walz administration would also expand the Earned Income Tax Credit, which would provide more money in working Latinos’ pockets for rent, groceries, gas, among other costs. The administration’s focus on families would be unmatched, restoring and expanding the Child Tax Credit to $6,000 for families with newborns, which would lift millions of children out of poverty.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has shown a deep commitment to the Latino community, making historic progress to create jobs, support small businesses, lower costs, expand access to healthcare and educational opportunities, all while building safer communities, which has transformed lives here in Nevada,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado. “This administration is putting Latino families first, and a  Harris-Walz administration would continue to move us forward, while the Trump-Vance extremist Project 2025 agenda woulddrag us backwards.”

Economic Empowerment

  • 5 Million New Latino Jobs & Record-Low Unemployment: The administration has overseen the creation of over 5 million new jobs for Latinos, achieving the lowest Latino unemployment rate on record.
  • Historic Support for Latino Entrepreneurs: Hispanic business ownership is growing at its fastest rate in 30 years, with the administration doubling SBA-backed loans for Latino-owned businesses, providing critical support for entrepreneurial dreams.
  • Increased Homeownership: Hispanic homeownership has grown by 50%, with over 9.5 million Hispanic households now owning their homes—a testament to the administration’s efforts to build pathways to financial security.

Expanding Educational Opportunities

Healthcare Access & Affordability

  • Lowered Health Insurance Costs: The administration reduced monthly premiums by an average of $800 for millions of Americans, including many Latino families.
  • Capped Insulin Prices: Insulin costs are now capped at $35, making lifesaving medication more affordable for those who need it most.
