Arleene Correa Valencia: Llévanos Contigo / Take Us With You
Curated by Louisa Gloger
??Arleene Correa Valencia is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Bay Area. Correa Valencia’s work investigates ethical, political, and cultural issues as they relate to and affect undocumented communities in the U.S. Her work is particularly concerned with the visibility and invisibility of undocumented migrant workers. Using domestic fabrics of personal significance and remnants of clothing worn by those who have experienced family separation in their journey to the U.S., Correa Valencia creates multimedia textiles that bring the stories of these communities into focus. Her work in various mediums, from painting and textiles to social practice, is both deeply personal and universal in scope.
In 2020, Correa Valencia completed her MFA at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She was an inaugural recipient of the Bay Area Fellowship at Headlands Center for the Arts. In 2023, Correa Valencia was named a Eureka Fellow by the Fleishhacker Foundation. Correa Valencia’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, SF Arts Commission, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Alfred University, YBCA, and Berkeley Art Center. Her work has been collected by the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas; Grand Valley State University Art Gallery, Michigan; Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University, Kansas; and 21c Museum Hotels, Louisville, Kentucky.

Kim Ford Kitz: Field of Vision
Curated by Louisa Gloger
Inverness-based artist Kim Ford Kitz has been unwavering in her dedication to the arts. For as long as she can remember, creative people have surrounded her. As a child, she spent many hours watching her parents rehearse and perform on stage, and most of her relatives painted, designed, and played music. Currently, her artistic practice is evolving towards abstraction with a particular interest in color. A recent series on display in this exhibition incorporates fabric into her creations with a nod towards the colorful embroidery stitching and contrasting textures found in the tradition of crazy quilts. She is applying this new process to the aerial landscape compositions she has explored for some time. Starting with a loose oil sketch on the canvas, Ford Kitz then hand stitches fabrics together and attaches the textile to the canvas, finishing the piece with a final layer of oil paint. Her work is highly tactile and multi-dimensional with this new exploration of fiber, abstraction, and handiwork.
Ford Kitz earned her BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2005. Her artistic journey has been enriched by successful careers in floral design, visual merchandising, theatrical sets, and scenic design.

Getting Here From There
Curated by Dewey Livingston and Elia Haworth
Getting to Bolinas from anywhere has always been challenging: In 1910, a fellow described traveling from Oakland to Bolinas via two ferries, two trains, a horse-drawn stage, a boat across Bolinas Lagoon, and then walking into town. From Indigenous trails through bear country to the first roads and autos to the modern missing road sign and GPS, this exhibit, first presented in 2015, traces the fascinating history of getting to this unique community. On view through December 31.
