Executive Director's Notes

By Fran?oise Rhodes

Since our last eblast Borrego Springs has experienced 100 mph winds, rain, snow covered mountains, rainbows and sunshine, according to the meteorologist this crazy weather pattern will continue into March. With the extremes came damage, thankfully there were no reports of injuries.

Many events were canceled or rescheduled. The Chamber had wind damage to a few of our sheds roofing and the destruction of one of our beautiful Palo Verde trees. We also canceled the Mixer and the Farmers Market. The Mixer will be held this week and is full, the Farmer’s Market will return on Friday.

One would think this would deter visitors, not so. At the Chamber we broke February visitor numbers (numbers posted next week) with many being snowbirds staying in the Coachella Valley wanting to know what Borrego Springs is all about, not everyone was interested in flowers.

With this said let’s talk about Christmas Circle Community Park. The Chamber refers to the park as the main landmark for visitors to navigate the area, easy to find and see with everything branching off from the Circle. It is a treasure for the community and was hit with major unbudgeted repairs during the storm.

Christmas Circle is owned and managed by the Christmas Circle Community Park Foundation, not the Chamber of Commerce.

All donations for storm damage repairs should be sent to:

Christmas Circle Community Park Foundation

PO Box 1025

Borrego Springs, CA 92004

Checks payable to: Christmas Circle Community Park

All donations are tax deductible.

Please do not drop donations off at the Chamber, thank you and support our beautiful community park.

Did You Know?
Bubble wrap was originally invented as wallpaper.
In 1957, Engineer Al Fielding and Swiss inventor Marc Chavannes invented bubble wrap while trying to create a textured wallpaper by sealing two shower curtains together to trap air bubbles.
