Myths & Miracles of Victorian Medicine
Wednesday, Feb. 8, 7-8pm
Prepare to gasp, cringe, and chuckle, as you discover the horrifying practices and life-saving discoveries that characterize turn of the century medicine. While doctors were taking x-rays, mothers were bringing ailing children to factories and advising them to “breathe in the gases” to feel better! Fictional Victorian lady Miss Myrtle Mills will reveal practices that defy today’s medical sense, as well as discoveries that helped form the foundation of 21st century medicine. Janet Parnes, of Historical Portrayals by Lady J, will portray Miss Mills.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 6-7pm

Consisting of a three-day excursion through the towns of Concord, Acton, Stow, Bolton, Lancaster, Sterling, West Sterling, East Princeton, and Princeton, Bob's walk is believed to be the first complete recorded re-enactment of Thoreau’s journey.
