Mosquito Control Operations Continue in Response to Hurricane Ian
Brevard County Mosquito Control reminds residents to take precautions against mosquito-bourne illness after Hurricane Ian.

Brevard County Mosquito Control continues to conduct aerial and truck spraying, mosquito and disease monitoring, and other public health protection measures as a result of significant increases in standing water and mosquito activity related to Hurricane Ian.

Residents are advised to take precautions and protect themselves from West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne illnesses by draining and eliminating unnecessary water-holding containers, securing and repairing torn window screens, and reducing outdoor exposure during peak times of mosquito activity (i.e., dawn and dusk).  If outdoor exposure is unavoidable during peak times, residents should wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants and apply mosquito repellant that is registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

For daily spray schedules and mosquito-borne illness prevention information, visit the Mosquito Control Department’s website at https://www.brevardfl.gov/MosquitoControl, or call your local office at 321-264-5032 (north of Wickham Rd.)/ 321-952-4523 (south of Wickham Rd.).
