From: Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – You have probably experienced periods of high stress and are well acquainted with the 'fight or flight' feeling that often occurs in such situations. This heightened feeling occurs when our bodies release stress hormones in response to the stress. Did you know this hormonal response in small doses is a good thing? It keeps us alert and ready to deal with whatever is happening or is about to happen. Unfortunately, prolonged high stress can cause symptoms such as, but not limited to: high blood pressure, a weakened immune system, heart disease, digestive problems, and headaches.

If you are interested in learning how to manage your stress, please consider joining us for our Stress-Less Living Workshop. In this two-hour interactive workshop, we will discuss and identify stressors, understand how your body reacts to stress, and learn effective techniques for managing your stress. These techniques can help lower your blood pressure and improve your readiness to respond to stressful situations. You will also know how to efficiently handle stress when it comes up. It's important to remember that you cannot always control the causes of your stress, but you can control how you react to it.

The workshop costs $30 and will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, Inc., 4676 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32935.
