MARCH 26TH - OPENING RECEPTION
ANCESTRAL WISDOM - LONGWOOD ART GALLERY
Join us tonight for the Opening Reception of Ancestral Wisdom in the newly relocated Longwood Art Gallery at BCA Headquarters in Westchester Square (2700 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY, 10461).
Through the voices of four contemporary Bronx artists (asmara, Susan MacMurdy, Darryl Alexander Moore, and Palén Obesa), this exhibition invites us to reimagine our collective future by honoring the lessons of the past, fostering a deeper connection with nature, and embracing the transformative power of heritage to create a world rooted in balance, equity, and understanding.
The gallery is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Walk-ins welcomed. To schedule a tour, please contact the gallery at [email protected] or call 718-931-9500 Ext. 22.

BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT (BMP) WORKSHOP SERIES
Writing as Witness
In this hybrid workshop with Nancy Mercado, participants will be encouraged to write Poetry or Prose that is based on what they have witnessed or are witnessing in their lives, in society, and in their dreams.
Saturdays from March 22nd through April 12th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Wakefield Library and via Zoom.
APRIL 11TH DEADLINE - OPEN CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS
BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT (BMP) BOOK COVER
BCA invites Bronx-based photographers and visual artists to design a cover for Bronx Memoir Project Volume IX, a multi-genre anthology written during the 2024-2025 Bronx Memoir Project (BMP) Workshop Series. The selected artist will receive a stipend of $500.
The application deadline is Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

Longwood’s Youth Engagement Program (YEP) is designed to engage Bronx youth with the rich visual arts scene that surrounds them. We welcome students and schools serving youth ages 12-24 to book a free guided tour of the next exhibition, Ancestral Wisdom.

2025 CREATIVE CLIMATE AWARDS - HUMAN IMPACTS INSTITUTE
BCA has partnered with the Human Impacts Institute as one of the curators for the 2025 Creative Climate Awards, a festival using art to broaden the climate conversation and incite action. This year’s theme, "Inspiring Futures", invites artists to imagine and create works that envision possible futures where humanity rises to the challenge of climate change featuring BCA artists Maya Ciarrocchi and Natalie C. Wood. Join us for the Opening Night Celebration on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
