Calexico, California - November 29, 2023: The City of Calexico is pleased to introduce two newly appointed Officers and the promotion of two Corporals to the role of Acting Sergeant, reinforcing the city's dedication to progress and community advancement.

N. Monninger - Officer
A proud Calexico native, Officer Monninger, hails from a Valley-residing family and was raised in Calexico, attending local schools, and participating in the Mighty Bull Dog Marching Band. A graduate of the IVC Police Academy, Officer Monninger is eager to launch his career in the city. With a lineage of law enforcement officers, his deep-rooted connection to the city is expected to be a valuable asset.

M. A. Gonzalez - Officer
Also, a Calexico native with familial ties in the city, Officer M.A. Gonzalez spent his formative years in Calexico, attending local schools. After serving in the US Army, he graduated from the IVC Police Academy and initially joined the San Diego Police

M. Carbajal - Acting Sergeant

Bringing 18 years of experience with the Calexico Police Department, Acting Sergeant Carbajal has served as a Task Force Officer for the Narcotic Task Force and as a firearms Instructor. Collaborating with County, State, and federal partners, Sergeant Carbajal has played a crucial role in advancing justice and resolving high-profile cases, contributing to the apprehension of dangerous suspects.

S. Sundahl - Acting Sergeant

With 21 years of service in Calexico, Acting Sergeant Sundahl has undertaken diverse assignments, notably as an instructor for firearms and less-lethal and diversionary devices. Serving as an instructor at the IVC Academy and being a published writer, Sergeant Sundahl is committed to continuous training for himself and his colleagues. He has successfully secured and managed two grants for the police department.
