From: Hunter-Dawson State Historic SiteJefferson City, MO -- Enjoy an 1860s Victorian Christmas during a candlelight open house at the Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site. To take part in this event, visit the site from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10. Daytime tours will also be available those days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Hunter-Dawson Home, aglow with the warmth of oil lamps and candles, will be adorned with fresh greenery, Christmas trees and 1860s-style ornaments. Historic site team members will be dressed in period clothing and will be present to answer any questions.
The open house is free and open to the public; reservations are not required. For information about fees and reservations for daytime tours, call the park office at 573-748-5340. Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site is located at 312 Dawson Road in New Madrid
