City Of American Canyon Manager's Update - December 2, 2022

Government and Politics

December 5, 2022

From: City Of American Canyon

Rain or shine, please join us at the Magic of the Season Event on Saturday, December 3, from 3-7 PM at Shenandoah Park. Don’t forget to bring your umbrellas and dress appropriately. Huge shout out to the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce for organizing the Holiday Marketplace (a sneak peek of the vendors is below) — please support the local food trucks and vendors. You won't want to miss the holiday-lighted parade and tree lighting!

Be sure to take a peek at the Magic of the Season page on our website at CityofAmericanCanyon.org/MOS or below in the "Upcoming Events and Activities" section to see all the fun ways your family can find the Magic all month long!

As always, there is a self-serve sandbag station available through the winter season at City Hall (4381 Broadway, near the entrance by the tree & picnic table). Sand and sandbags are provided; users will need to bring their gloves and shovels. During wet weather, please remember to slow down, turn on your headlights, use your windshield wipers, and maintain a distance of several car lengths between your car and other vehicles. PG&E offers additional safety tips and instructions on reporting power outages. If you see downed wires or a hazardous situation, call 911 immediately. All other problems, such as clogged storm drains and downed trees, may be reported by calling (707) 995-8674.

By now you’ve noticed changes to the roads in Vintage Ranch. To reduce our community’s dependency on automobiles, we are enhancing the neighborhood cycling experience by adding nearly 2 miles of bike lanes to Donaldson Way East, Shenandoah Drive, and Silver Oak Trail. Please follow the new signage/pavement markings and be mindful/respectful of cyclists on the road. Once we have a dry weather spell, the last bit of striping will be finished. In addition, you will see a new all-way stop in front of Canyon Oaks Elementary (at Silver Oak Trail and White Oak Drive). Keep checking in with our Virtual City Hall for updates when everything has been completed.

Take care,

Jason B. Holley
City Manager

Leaves & Streetsweeping

Recology Vallejo - American Canyon provides bi-weekly street sweeping for the City of American Canyon.  For customer service concerns or questions about routes and schedules, please call (707) 552-3110. Street sweepers are not effective at collecting sticks, branches, or large piles of leaves. Raking leaves into the gutter negatively affects our local environment, can lead to localized flooding, and have a negative impact on the street sweeper causing delays in service. Please avoid blowing, raking, or piling leaves into the gutter and instead utilize your yard waste bin from Recology Vallejo-American Canyon. Need an additional waste bin? Contact Recology today!
