Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun time ringing in 2023. The end of December and January brought much-needed rain to our region. The significant weather also brought minor flooding to our highways and city streets, some needing to be closed for long periods. I appreciate the community’s patience while adhering to the road closures, so workers could clear clogged drains and debris to re-open them.

Hopefully, we will continue getting more wet stuff to help with our drought situation. If you see standing water on the roadway, proceed with caution, and if the road is closed, there is a reason. Please do not ignore the closure signs.

Sadly, our nation has had a spike in mass shootings and gun violence. I want to remind the community to please store your guns securely and safely inside your residence. A locked gun safe or a trigger lock is the best way to do this.

We are at the beginning of tax season, and employers will issue W-2s. If possible, have your employer send the W-2 electronically. Another way to protect yourself from fraudulent activity is to have your tax refund wired directly to your bank account.

Over the next few months, we typically see an increase in mailbox thefts due to people’s personal information and checks being sent through the mail. If you see any suspicious vehicles or subjects loitering around or tampering with mailboxes, please report it to 911 or non-emergency dispatch (707) 253-4451.

Lastly, I would like to welcome a new member to ACPD. Lieutenant Nicol Dudley started in January and will be handling watch commander duties and acting Chief duties in my absence. Lieutenant Dudley is new to ACPD this year but has worked as a patrol Sergeant and Officer at ACPD in previous years, so she is no stranger to the community and department.

ACPD wishes for everyone to have a safe and healthy 2023!
