Inaugural St. Patrick's Day Procession and Annual Irish Flag Raising Ceremony in Downtown Aurora

Aurora, Illinois - Aurora will shamrock the block this weekend at its inaugural Aurora St. Patrick’s Day Procession and second annual Irish Flag Ceremony.

Beginning at noon on Sunday, March 12, 2023, the celebration will feature the ‘Daniel Dolan, Sr.’ Procession, with more than 20 units of vehicles, cultural groups, businesses, and organizations.

With the E. Downer Place bridge as the primary route, the procession will step off on Water St., head west, and conclude at Stolp Avenue, where participants and spectators will convene for the 2nd annual Irish Flag Raising Ceremony on the main stage located at 23 E. Downer Place.

The ceremony will include cultural performances, a proclamation reading, the Emerald Excellence Awards presentation, and the raising of the flag of Ireland.

Many downtown businesses and restaurants will be open with St. Patrick’s Day themes and specials immediately following the ceremony.
