From: City of Daytona BeachWorld’s Most Famous Beach sign undergoes repairs
The hurricanes last year caused damaged throughout the city and the World’s Most Famous Beach sign at the beach was no exception. This week, the World’s Most Famous Beach sign was taken down for repairs. In the interim, people are encouraged to take iconic Daytona Beach photos at a new sign at City Hall (301 S. Ridgewood Ave.). Additional sign locations will be announced soon, and an announcement will be made when the World’s Most Famous Beach sign is back in place.
Planning Board to meet Thursday
The city’s Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Commission Chambers at City Hall. Items on the agenda include a Major Site Plan to develop a 198-unit senior living facility on more than 11 acres at 1101 Halifax Medical Center Drive and rezoning requests for a mixed-use development at the southwest corner of the intersection of I-95 and I-4 (east of Tomoka Farms Road) and the future development/redevelopment of vacant parcels within the Daytona Promenade subdivision (property at 1415 S. Nova Road in the northeast corner of Beville and Nova roads). There will also be reports for the Downtown/Ballough Road, Midtown and Beachside Redevelopment boards.

Business owners can submit applications for recovery grants
The City of Daytona Beach is offering recovery grants to qualified business owners affected by hurricanes Ian or Nicole. Businesses with less than 50 employees can be reimbursed up to $3,000 for things like the cost of spoiled food, lost revenue, insurance deductibles and repairs. Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.
Children can showcase their business at upcoming fair
If you have young entrepreneurs in the house, sign them up to showcase their business idea at the annual Daytona Beach Children’s Business Fair planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Riverfront Esplanade. Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy and then open for customers at the one-day marketplace.
