City Of Diamond Bar Weekly Highlights - December 23, 2022

Welcome to Weekly Highlights from City Hall - Each issue of this electronic bulletin will contain brief news and information about City programs, services and projects.

Holiday Office Closures

City offices will be closed on Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Offices reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27.

City offices will be closed on Monday, January 2, 2023 in observance of the New Year holiday. Offices reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3.

Holiday Tree Collection
Waste Management and Valley Vista Services will once again be collecting and recycling all live holiday trees set out for collection. To take advantage of this free service, simply remove the stand, ornaments, and decorations (including tinsel) and place your tree curbside or in your common bin location before 6 a.m. on your regularly scheduled collection day. Trees longer than seven feet must be cut in half. Tree collection will start December 26 and continue for two weeks. Any questions may be directed to Waste Management at (800) 266-7551 or Valley Vista Services at (800) 442-6454.

Holiday Extra Trash Collection
From gift wrap to disposable dinnerware and napkins, the holiday season tends to produce more trash than usual. If you are a Waste Management customer, you can take advantage of its free end-of-the-year collection service to get rid of up to three large bags or boxes of excess regular trash.

This program is available for two weeks starting December 26 but must be scheduled in advance by calling (800) 266-7551 at least 24 hours before your regularly scheduled collection day.

Congratulations to this year's honorees: Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization, Dana Cox, Susan Pantages (not pictured), Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions Club, Anthony Rojas, and Jason Chun.

2022 Outstanding Volunteer Honorees
From individual acts of service to collective efforts of nonprofits and other organizations, it is evident that there is no shortage of community spirit and involvement in Diamond Bar. In what is an annual tradition, the City made time during the Winter Snow Fest event to recognize a handful of individuals and community groups for giving of their time and skills to enrich the lives of others.

Learn about this year's honorees by visiting the Volunteer Recognition page on the City's website.

City Commission Appointment Opportunities

Applications are currently being accepted to fill one seat on each of the City’s three commissions – Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Traffic and Transportation.

Public Works Department

Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP)
Residents of the North Del Sol Lane neighborhood began an NTMP after reporting speeding concerns to Public Works staff. Staff partnered with engineers, public safety representatives and neighborhood residents to design a traffic mitigation plan and subsequently a contract was awarded to CT&T Construction to install the improvements. On Thursday, December 22, construction was completed on North Del Sol Lane and Highland Valley Road. Improvements included speed cushions, edgeline striping, centerline striping, pavement legends, and warning signs throughout the neighborhood. Construction was completed on time and within budget.
