Galveston, TX – December 14, 2022 – Runners, get ready to sleigh! The Santa Hustle Half Marathon and 5K returns this Sunday, December 18. 

Thousands of runners dressed in their festive best will race along the Seawall and residents should anticipate some delays along the route Sunday morning. 

This year, the 5K & Half Marathon will begin and end at Beach Central Park (2102 Seawall). The Half Marathon is anticipated to begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 11:30 a.m., the 5K will begin at 8:15 a.m. with an estimated end time of 10:00 a.m., and the Kids Dash will begin at 7:30 a.m. and finish within the hour.

GPD will be working this event and the Traffic Department will assist them with temporary lane and street closures where required. The southernmost eastbound traffic lane and the parking lane from approximately 14^th to the West End of the island will be coned for race participants. Vehicular traffic moving eastbound will be restricted to one lane moving east bound in the area during throughout the duration of the event. The traffic division will begin reopening the second lane after the final Half Marathon participant passes by.  To allow for participants to safely cross the street and to accommodate the number of participants anticipated, Seawall Blvd will be closed to traffic at 19^th and 23^rd Streets. Traffic will be detoured along Avenue O1/2 because of a Seawall closure between 19^th and 23^rd streets. Additional information is listed below.
