RUMOR CONTROL

Mayor Ardy Kassakhian will make a decision by this summer or sooner as to whether to resign from Glendale City Council in order to run for the "so-called" Progressive Liberal Democrat Laura Friedman's California Assembly seat.

Councilwoman Paula Devine will most likely not be seeking reelection but retire. She may move near family either in Minnesota or Pennsylvania.

The "so-called" Progressive Liberal Democrat California Assemblywoman Laura Friedman will be seeking Adam Schiff's seat in the US Congress. She will have the support of Adam Schiff, and big developers like Rick Caruso. If it wasn't for the convicted felon, former Councilman John Drayman, appointing her to the Glendale Design Review Board, she would not be in politics today. Later Drayman supported her for Glendale City Council when she ran against incumbent Councilman Bob Yousefian.

READING BETWEEN THE HEADLINES. WHY DID NEW GLENDALE POLICE CHIEF MANUEL CID BOLT OUT OF CULVER CITY FOR GLENDALE? WAS IT, AMONG OTHER THINGS, THE FACT THAT GLENDALE IS NOT A SANCTUARY CITY AND ALL ITS RAMIFICATIONS?

WELCOME ABOARD, POLICE CHIEF MANUEL CID... WE ARE GLAD GLENDALE CITY COUNCIL HAS CHOSEN YOU, AND YOU HAVE CHOSEN GLENDALE AS YOUR NEW HOME!

On January 10, 2023, Glendale City Council appointed Manuel Cid to become Glendale's latest Chief of Police. There was the usual fanfare from the council, staff, and police department management.

As the only person from the public, this writer approached the podium and reflected upon the Glendale police department, our council members, staff, and the residents of Glendale.

Having been a resident since age 12, a product of the city's school system, a homeowner for close to 46 years, and active in Glendale politics for over 12 years, I believe this writer carried a great deal of Glendale's history and experience when he approached the podium and spoke on Chief Manuel Cid.

This writer congratulated Manuel Cid on being chosen as our new Police Chief, but went one step further by saying to the council that the once "racist town" Glendale has always been a low-crime city. Why?

I indulge my readers to please click on the link below to hear this writer's comments praising our Police Department, but, most of all, stating it is the residents, men, women, and children who reside in Glendale that make this a "low-crime" City....a City where conservative values are important. And the reason that rents and housing prices are high is that Glendale is a very desirable city in which to live, raise families, and work.

Mike Mohill Explains Why Glendale Is A Safe City In Which To Live

After I spoke, this writer asked himself who was this new Police Chief and, where did he come from, and why he would like to call Glendale his new home.

Woke Councilman Dan Brotman said several candidates applied for the Police Chief's job. Always three candidates were selected in every interview, with Manuel Cid from the small town of Culver City (39,785) always on top.

CULVER CITY HISTORY OF POLITICAL ACTIVISM

Culver City, a population of 39,785

L A RIOTS 1992 Los Angeles Times "In Culver City, probably the hardest hit of the cities on the Westside, looters raided shops in the downtown area, near Jefferson and Sepulveda Boulevards, and at Fox Hills Mall. Still, Culver City police quelled the trouble quickly, and merchants and residents praised their efforts."

In 2005, after attending LA County Sheriff's Academy, Manuel Cid was recruited to the Culver City police department and worked his way up the ranks.

On March 2017, "Culver City passed a resolution declaring the city's commitment "to protecting the safety, well-being, and constitutional right of its residents and the people of the State of California. To resist the Trump administration's cruel immigration enforcement policies, Culver City, California declared itself a sanctuary city."

2020 THE SUMMER OF LOVE.... RIOTING IN THE STREETS OF AMERICA AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS EVERYWHERE ARE UNDER ATTACK

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and nationwide uprisings were instigated by the Marxist terror group Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA. Tucker Carlson: ANTIFA is the armed militia of the Democrat Party and is back in force "The point of the violence they (ANTIFIA) committed, the extensive violence and the killings they committed, was to defeat Donald Trump – Make the country so chaotic that voters would want a change, and they were effective in doing that. So effective that Kamala Harris herself raised money to bail them out of jail. In the end, ANTIFA played a pivotal role in our presidential election that year, more so than any other organized bloc of voters. Then, the moment Joe Biden was inaugurated, ANTIFA seemed to disappear. Nobody asked any questions about where they went, much less about who they were or who was paying them. They'd served their purpose, and then they left. On January 23, 2023, the Tucker Carlson Show..... Please watch this video above to see an eye-opening relationship between the domestic terrorist group ANTIFA and the Democrat Party.

On May 30, 2020, a George Floyd protest at 3rd and Fairfax in Los Angeles.

Saturday, June 6, 2020, was a historic moment for Culver City as there were two gatherings dealing with racism, the mourning of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter Movement. The city of Culver City had decades of infamy over racism.

2020 CULVER CITY ACTION NETWORK FORMED
The political left organized and called for the "defunding of its local police department. #Defund Culver City Police Department: What you need to knowCulver City Action Network “#DefundPolice means divesting from institutions that kill, harm, cage and control our communities, and investing in housing, health care, income support, employment, and community-based safety strategies that will produce genuine and sustainable safety for all.— defundpolice.org."

Since the nationwide uprisings in the aftermath of police and vigilante killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, Culver City Action Network called to Defund Culver City Police Department and reimagine public safety; so far, the Culver City government (at the time) had done virtually nothing to advance or even commit to structural change

Culver City Action Network called for the City Council to begin reducing the size of the Culver City Police Department, reallocating several types of police response to other agencies.

The Culver City Action Network called for the immediate freeze of the hiring of new Culver City Police Department officers, including from the pool of applicants Culver City Police Department solicited in January 2021.

POLITICAL RIGHT RESPONSE TO DEFUND CULVER CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT

March 4, 2021 Protect Culver CityPROTECT CULVER CITY: Political Action Committee, Death by a thousand cuts "Who's behind "Defund Culver City Police Department"? The “Defund CCPD” campaign did not go away after the past election. Vocal militants teamed up with friendly council members to stop CCPD from enforcing low-level traffic violations – ostensibly due to profiling concerns.

"Although we have avoided the drastic 50% cut the Defunders originally demanded, our police appear doomed to “death by a thousand cuts.” Our police department is now forbidden from keeping our sidewalks clear of tents, forbidden the discretion of traffic stops, and is subject to hiring freezes. Death by attrition seems much more politically feasible for the Defunders than a cold turkey abolition."

"Ordinary residents see where this is going. The resultant increase in crime is undeniable. Aggravated assault and burglary have increased dramatically. Anecdotes of stolen packages, catalytic converters, assaults, transient camp crime and fires, and street racing are now common on social media. It promises only to get worse".

"Because the “defund the police” movement has not just resulted in smaller police budgets, it has also resulted in lower police morale, leading to a wave of police retirements and resignations. Now, police departments are worried about having enough officers to keep their communities safe."

THE NEW CHIEF OF POLICE MANUEL CID APPOINTED

On May 25, 2021, Manuel Cid was appointed Culver City's Chief of Police. (After 1 1/2 years, he will seek "calm and serenity " when he looks for employment with the city of Glendale).

POLICE CHIEF RESPONSE TO POLITICAL UNREST IN CULVER CITY

On June 24, 2021, in response to political unrest in the City, new Culver City Police Chief Manuel Cid made a video outlining a CCPD new initiative: A Message From Chief Manuel Cid Regarding Culver City Police Department's New Initiative, June 24, 2021,

AFTER 32 YEARS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, GLENDALE POLICE CHIEF CARL POVILAITIS ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

Glendale Police Chief Carl Povilaitis Announces His Retirement, 5/27/22. "After 32 years in law enforcement, serving the City of Glendale, Police Chief Carl Povilaitis announced he plans to retire in September 2022. Chief Povilaitis has served as the Glendale Police Department’s Chief since 2018. The City will begin a search for his replacement."

After only 1 1/2 years of being the Police Chief for Culver City, a city he called home for nearly 20 years, having to work in a hostile environment for law enforcement, family man Manuel Cid instead saw an opportunity to work for the "uneventful" city of Glendale. Not a perfect City, but one in which the residents respect and do not attack their local law enforcement. On December 21, 2022, Manuel Cid accepted the position of Glendale's new Police Chief. On January 10, 2023, Manuel Cid was sworn in by Glendale City Council.

AGAIN, WELCOME ABOARD POLICE CHIEF MANUEL CID... WE ARE GLAD YOU HAVE CHOSEN GLENDALE AS YOUR NEW HOME!
