Join us for our annual bird watching trek along the Los Angeles River in the City of Glendale. This is a rare opportunity to spend time watching the birds that are on the river during the fall and winter months. Our leader for the morning is Kyle Gerber. Please bring your binoculars and camera to view and capture photos of our fine feathered friends.

Glendale Outdoors! (GO!) Community Program
Deukmejian Wilderness Park

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.*

Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month! We invite the public to join us for an interpretive hike in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, a nature craft, nature themed games, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. We will provide water, snacks and bus transportation from Pacific Community Center, leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 12:30 p.m. 

*Program time begins at 9:00 a.m. at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. If you choose to meet at the park, please arrive by 8:45 a.m. The program ends at 12:00 p.m., and bus riders will return to Pacific Community Center by 12:30 p.m.

Important information:

-A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m.

-Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus! Please arrive by 8:00 a.m. to check-in with the staff if you are riding the bus with us. 

-Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.

-Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.

Special Holiday Event

Holiday at the Stone Barn
Deukmejian Wilderness Park
3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214
Saturday, December 17, 2022
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Join us for a family-oriented evening of holiday entertainment in the amphitheater of the Stone Barn Nature Center in Deukmejian Wilderness Park. There will be singing and dancing and even a magician. Nights are chilly in the park, dress in layers and bring a blanket or a seat cushion. We will serve hot chocolate and cookies. Seating is limited, please RSVP.

Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in becoming a Trail Safety Patrol Volunteer for the City of Glendale? 

As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks.

The TSP consists of two units: The Mountain Bike Unit and the Hike Unit.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, be in good health, and devote a minimum of four hours per month. If interested, please send an email to [email protected].

Stone Barn Rentals

The Stone Barn is available for rentals.

Nature center is available for rental with or without the displays in place.

Available for parties, events, and meetings.

Maximum capacity: 88 (banquet style).

Interpretive Nature Program available for birthday parties and events.
