Lend a Hand at Brand

8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Please join us as we work to improve some of the neglected wilderness areas of Brand Park. Work may include trail maintenance, plant watering, and removal of invasive plants from the park. In case of rain this event will be cancelled. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and water.

Help us water our bigcone spruce and coast live oaks, assist with trail repairs, and remove invasive plants from the park. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and water. Families, individuals, clubs, and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.

Growing an eco-garden isn't just great for the environment, it will produce a beautiful and productive garden. The Office of Sustainability's Elizabeth Harris is our speaker for the evening. Elizabeth will show us how to reduce waste through composting and ensure a bounty of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Seating is limited. RSVP at glendaleca.gov/garden.

These Boots Are Made For Walking, Interpretive Hike

Join us for a moderately difficult hike on the Mummy Rock trail, the Le Mesnager Loop trail and the Vineyard trail as we learn all about the Wilderness Park as the sun goes down. Bring your flashlights (we have red covers), water and wear sturdy shoes. Space is limited. Please RSVP at glendaleca.gov/hike.

Glendale Outdoors! (GO!) Community Program

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.*

Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month! We invite the public to join us for an interpretive hike in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, a nature craft, nature themed games, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. We will provide water, snacks and bus transportation from Pacific Community Center, leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 12:30 p.m.

*Program time begins at 9:00 a.m. at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. If you choose to meet at the park, please arrive by 8:45 a.m. The program ends at 12:00 p.m., and bus riders will return to Pacific Community Center by 12:30 p.m.

Important information:

A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus! Please arrive by 8:00 a.m. to check-in with the staff if you are riding the bus with us.
Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.
Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.

More Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in becoming a Trail Safety Patrol Volunteer for the City of Glendale?

As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks.

The TSP consists of two units: The Mountain Bike Unit and the Hike Unit.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, be in good health, and devote a minimum of four hours per month. If interested, please send an email to [email protected].

Interpretive Nature Program available for birthday parties and events.
